Autistic Angel Adventures

Let It Snow!

Good morning to all of you!  I hope everyone had slept well, those with autistic angels need no explanation of the phrase “sleep deprivation”.  Well, I myself have been awake since 2:30am…but Daddy and the boys were sleeping soundly when I got up.  Allow me to explain: for some reason I awoke with a feeling that something just wasn’t right.  So I stumbled through the darkness towards the kitchen and flipped on the light, when what did my wandering eyes find before me?

Yes, my Blue Eyes had done it again!  Some of you may recall my post entitled My Favorite Hurricane, in this I explained some of the precautions and safety locks we have to use to prevent certain mischief by our angels.  Well, one of the few kitchen cabinets that doesn’t have a lock, contained within it a 10 lb bag of flour and 5 lb bag of sugar.  This particular cabinet isn’t easy to reach, and I’m 5’6” tall…but that doesn’t stop my Blue Eyes.  Even with our chairs locked in the basement each night, and a trash can that’s too heavy to move across the floor, he managed to find a new resourceful tool.  My son carried our end table from the living room into the kitchen (And he can do it quietly, I’ve witnessed it once before) and proceeded to use it as a stepping stool to reach this particular cabinet.  Now rubbing my eyes and praying I’m not dreaming, I’m suddenly feeling a meltdown of my own coming on.  I mean, I knew the weather man had said we were going to see some snow, but this is NOT what I had in mind…

So next I ran back into the living room, and don’t I find my little Blue Eyes sleeping soundly on the couch….

You know you’re a mother when all in the same moment you have the urge to scream about the mess, yet can’t help the urge to take a picture of such a cute little flour covered monkey!

Needless to say, I have spent an hour and a half cleaning my kitchen, 20 minutes showering the child and tucking him back into bed, then showering myself before being mistaken as a snowman!  You can imagine how covered I was with all that flour!!  Thanks to his irresistible cuteness that I captured in a picture, yet another momma meltdown has been avoided.  Now I think I’ll go enjoy a cup or two of coffee and some music by Josh Groban to soothe my nerves as I await the arrival of the school buses for my angels to depart.  I think maybe even this momma is entitled to a little something sweet to go with my coffee...

Yours Truly,

Heather Joy
